Deborah Dickson
Deborah Dickson is a Melbourne based artist who mainly works in oils and paints still life. She has been painting full time for the past 15 years after leaving a career as a florist business owner. Deborah is self taught and has mentored from fellow professional artists along the way.
A principal theme in Deborah’s work is flowers and nature. Flowers are full of emotions for us, we use them to express love, joy, hope, celebrations, births, deaths and marriages. In her work she tries to show the human interaction and symbolism associated with flowers and our traditional ceremonies.
Deborah’s style is photorealism it is a reflection on our obsession with perfection in a fast paced changing visual world. In her new body of works she is experimenting with more muted tones and shadows, they are more minimal and calm still life. Deborah has been painting for worthy charities since she began full time 15 years ago.
